Both of the boys have had an ridiculous amount of ear infections. Colin 16 and Caden 12. Our Dr. in AZ always told us that if it clears with antibiotic then dont need tubes. When we moved here neither Peds office said anything so I just thought that was right. Our neighbor is a Peds ICU Dr. and said that was crazy and we need to see an ENT Dr. (ear nose and throat) Got them both in right away. The Dr. said..yes they both need tubes. They had use scheduled for a month away. NO WAY said Mommy. I begged and pleaded as both boys had had an ear infection for about a month that antibiotics were not clearing it up and Caden had developed that allergic reaction. So the DR. got us in 2 days later. Scary to think okay now it is happening. So I tried to mentally prepare, spoke to as many friends as I could. Caden was still waking about 4 times a night after midnight with his eating and sleeping issue as well as the steroids. So woke him up twice before midnight and luckily he went back to bed at 3 am and didnt get up till 545, perfect we had to leave at 6. So Colin got out of bed as I prepared him for the events to take place.. okay buddy we are going to the dr. and they are going to take out all your boo boos in your ears so you dont have to take medicine. you get to wear a super hero cap and mask. He did fantastic. He was so polite and went without a fuss when they came with the wagon as all the nurses and Mommy cheered him on as they took him off. Caden went first and left screaming and came back screaming. It was hard to him to get his bearing for a bit and then he calmed down once we were home. He took a 3 hr nap and was a new happy boy when he woke up. The Dr. said they suctioned out mucus snot from his ears.. poor guy. Colin came back into recovery very sleepy and hard to get around. He was complaining that his ears hurt and was rather upset that he could dig his finger in his ears. So we compromised with letting him rub his ear lightly with his blankets. He came home and slept for 4 hours and was a new happy boy as well when he woke up. The boys are so awesome and their strength is so admirable. I love you both so much.
